Michter’s US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey – FEBRUARY 2023
Michter’s use a maximum of twenty barrels per small batch production, ensuring they focus on the quality in each and every cask… there’s not enough in there to hide a poor cask of whiskey.
The liquid enters the barrels at 51.5% ABV and Michter’s do not share the mashbill, which allows them to vary between production runs to take into account crop yield variations over seasons and maintain a consistent flavour profile.
The Distilleries (and more!)
MICHTER’S SPRINGFIELD FARM
A testament to Michter’s commitment to sustainably sourcing the very best grain possible, Michter’s own a 205-acre farm in the historic town of Springfield, Kentucky. After acquiring the land in 2017, Michter’s began working with local farmers to farm its own estate grown, non-GMO corn, rye and barley on the property. These grains will be used at Michter’s Shively Fort Nelson Distilleries.
MICHTER’S SHIVELY DISTILLERY
Michter’s Shively Distillery is a 12.8 acres, 87,000 square foot facility, currently home to all of Michter’s processing and bottling operations, as well as two of its small pot stills.
MICHTER’S FORT NELSON DISTILLERY
Located at 801 West Main Street in the heart of downtown Louisville, Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery, this distillery is home to a legendary historic distillation system, with tours available to discover Michter’s whiskey production process – from barreling at a lower entry proof, to toasting their barrels before charring and heat cycling their warehouses.
